Limitations and Alternatives
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of www.friday.ie, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.
Known limitations for www.friday.ie:
- Blog posts: Some uploaded images may not have text alternatives because past contributors did not always add text alternatives. We have an ongoing project to update all legacy content to have text alternatives. Please contact us if you encounter an issue.
- Video: YouTube videos are embedded using iframes. Some of the components of these iframes have the following known accessibility issues: components do not have sufficient colour contrast, the related videos inner slider is missing an accessible name, some content can disappear on hover, some hidden content is readable with a screen reader, and on logo hover the content is not dismissible. Since these are third-party elements originating from YouTube, Friday Agency currently has no ability to rectify these issues with the iframes code used to embed videos . Our team will continue to seek a solution for these issues.
- Aria: We are working to ensure that where HTML isn’t sufficient, ARIA attributes are used.
- Status Messages: We are currently working to ensure all form messages are announced to screen readers using aria attributes.
- Target Size: We are updating all pointer input target sizes to be at least 24 by 24 pixels.
- Focus Visible: We are updating all focusable elements to have a visible indicator and ensuring they aren not covered of hidden by page content.
- Tables: We are working to update any tabular data to use Tables.
